What if my labor takes a long time?

Birth unfolds on its own timeline.

Whether your labor lasts a few hours or much longer, I’m on call and prepared to document your story whenever your baby decides it’s time.

Every birth is different, and that’s part of what makes these stories so meaningful.

Do you use flash during birth?

Sometimes, yes.

Every birth space is different.

If a room is filled with beautiful natural light, I often rely entirely on the available light already in the room. But if labor takes place overnight or in a dimly lit birth room, I may use the flash on my camera to create clean, true-to-life images while keeping the atmosphere of your birth intact.

One question I hear often is, “Won’t I notice the flash during labor?”

In my experience, the answer is almost always no.

Mothers are deeply focused on labor, and I’ve never had a client tell me the flash was distracting. In fact, when I gave birth to my own children, both of my birth photographers used flash, and I never realized it until I saw the finished gallery.

My goal is never to light up the room or interrupt your experience.

It’s simply to create timeless, beautifully exposed images that allow you to remember your birth exactly as it felt.
